Okayama University 岡山大学

  • Okayama, Japan 岡山県

Okayama University has no Japanese language requirements for undergraduate students, and also has seven levels of free Japanese language classes. So, It is the perfect university for students who are very interested in learning to speak Japanese but have not begun to learn yet (as well as a great choice for students who are already studying Japanese and want to continue taking classes in the language while in Japan, but not necessarily as part of their required course load).

Okayama is approximately three hours from Tokyo by bullet train, about one hour from Kyoto by bullet train, and about 30 minutes from Hiroshima by bullet train; making it an interesting hub base if students would like to make day trips to some of Japan’s most famous and historical cities. Okayama itself, as is true of many Japanese cities, is a beautiful mixture of traditional culture and modernity; and is famous for its Koraku-en Garden (one of Japan’s Three Great Gardens).
