The University of Tokyo 東京大学

  • Tokyo, Japan 東京都

The University of Tokyo requires that students either be fluent in English or in Japanese, but not necessarily in both. It, therefore, could be a good choice for both students who are excited about studying abroad but do not necessarily have the time for or interest in becoming proficient in the Japanese language, and students with advanced Japanese proficiency who are looking to use and refine their skills. The university has a wide range of available courses and programs for both undergraduate and graduate students.

All of the campuses of the University of Tokyo except for two are located right in the middle of big city Tokyo, very near to many famous areas such as Akihabara’s “Electric Town,” Ginza’s shopping districts, and Harajuku’s fashion street (as well as cultural landmarks such as Meiji Shrine). So, it makes this school an ideal choice for those who want to delve deep into the heart of modern, metropolitan Japan.
